Night Photography Workshops & Astrophotography & Wildlife Tours
Learn how to photograph the Milky Way and night sky in some of North America’s darkest locations. Led by Evie Wilder and Brad Goldpaint, Astronomy Photographer of the Year, we leave our cameras behind so every participant gets our full, personalized attention.
Designed for photographers of all skill levels, these small-group night photography workshops teach you how to capture Milky Way landscapes, master camera settings in the dark, and develop effective astrophotography post-processing techniques. Each participant receives a detailed post-processing booklet covering settings, workflow, and editing to reference long after the workshop ends.

Why Join Our Workshops?
YOU First
We leave our cameras behind and focus entirely on you, your goals, and helping capture your vision. This approach has set us apart from the vast majority of other photography workshops. Brad and Evie have never brought a camera to a workshop and believe that this should be the standard.
Post-Processing Booklet
Every participant that takes our workshop receives a 50+ page booklet detailing all of our editing techniques, ensuring you can revisit and refine your skills long after the workshop. No other workshop offers a post-processing booklet for night photography that is strictly dedicated to editing the Milky Way.
Small Groups
We always limit the class size of our workshops. This gives you more one-on-one time when we’re in the field and during our post-processing classes. When you need help, we’ll be there for you.
Introduction
3 Hours - Learn the essentials of planning and photographing the night sky, from equipment setup, camera settings, and mobile apps to where to find the Milky Way and how to capture it.
Photography Sessions
A typical workshop schedule includes: 2 or 3 nights photographing the night sky the entire night. Scouting locations before it gets dark. Each night includes a dedicated sunset shot and location if time allows.
Post-Processing Session
One or two 4-hour sessions in the classroom, dedicated to learning Photoshop, RAW adjustments, exposure blending, panoramic stitching, focus stacking, noise reduction, and advanced techniques using Adobe Bridge and Photoshop.
Designed for photographers who have attended our workshops and want additional time to practice their editing and post-processing techniques. There is a lot to absorb during a workshop; this tutorial allows you to revisit the workflow, refine your skills, and continue developing your images at your own pace.
Testimonials
Nowhere else can you get the level of expertise and experience that Evie and Brad bring to this art form.
Together they made this workshop the best. Both are truly passionate nighttime photographers who are excellent educators. They are committed to sharing their passion and knowledge with other photographers.
Evie and Brad teach with patience and clarity and make it fun for all
The addition of Evie in 2025 as co-instructor is a total win! These two possess the skills, but most importantly, they teach with patience and clarity, and they make it fun for all. I highly recommend a Goldpaint workshop to anyone interested in night sky photography!
Evie Wilder and Brad Goldpaint were amazing instructors!
They did not bring their cameras, so their focus was dedicated to assisting the participants. They were always checking in and ensuring we had the help and support we needed! This was a fun learning experience, and I look forward to the next one!
I try to attend a Goldpaint Photography Workshop every year…why, because they are a 5-star experience!
Taking a nighttime photography workshop is an absolutely fantastic adventure! Brad and Evie are incredible instructors - patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about sharing their craft. They make learning fun and approachable, creating a welcoming atmosphere that always boosts my confidence with each workshop. Each year I leave inspired and excited to capture the night’s beauty with fresh techniques.
Even though I have been attending Goldpaint Photography workshops for the past 12 years, I still learned some new things about taking and processing multi-row panoramas during this workshop.
It was evident that Brad and Evie invested many weeks and trips to the park scouting out the best locations and times prior to the workshops so that the participants get the best opportunities for great images. During the workshop I attended in March, Death Valley was experiencing a rare “super bloom” of wildflowers, as well as the rare occurrence of water filling the Badwater Basin (Lake Manly). We were able to visit several different locations throughout the night for a variety of landscape foregrounds. Brad and Evie dedicate all their time during the workshops to helping and advising the participants—they do not bring their cameras. This is a unique and much-appreciated aspect of their workshops that I have not experienced elsewhere.
Meet your Instructors

“I love to wander and explore! I love sharing my passion for photographing the night sky, wilderness, and wildlife while helping people understand that you don’t have to fear the wild side of our planet!”

“Two passions of mine are wilderness travel and experiencing the drama of a night sky. I combine my passions with photography by teaching night photography workshops to participants of all skill levels.”
Frequently Asked Questions
How are your workshops different from other photography tours?
Unlike standard photo tours that prioritize itineraries over education, our workshops focus on intimate, skill-building experiences. With small groups of 8 participants, everyone receives personalized guidance on camera techniques, composition, and post-processing. Our signature approach uses moonlight to naturally illuminate foregrounds, creating distinctive Milky Way images. Led by Brad Goldpaint and Evie Wilder, these workshops blend fun, adventure, education, and community for photographers of all levels.
Do you bring your cameras to the workshop?
We leave our cameras behind to keep our focus entirely on YOU.
Your workshop is about your interests, your growth, your images, and your experience. By not shooting, we're able to dedicate our full attention to guiding each participant, offering hands-on support, all in a fun, safe environment.
This commitment sets our workshops far apart from the rest, ensuring each one of our participants has our undivided attention.
How many participants are in each workshop?
6 -8 participants
Each location will vary, but we aim to offer a hands-on approach, ensuring everyone receives personal attention and help when they need it most.
What skills will I gain during your night photography workshops?
Our workshops cover the full spectrum of night photography, from planning to final output. You’ll learn to scout locations, select the right gear, master camera settings for low-light conditions, and use moonlight to enhance foregrounds while capturing the Milky Way. We also dive into post-processing techniques to produce print-ready images. Whether you're new to night photography or refining your craft, you’ll gain practical skills to plan, shoot, and edit professional-quality imagery.
What makes these workshops suitable for all skill levels?
Our night photography workshops are crafted to accommodate photographers from novices to experts. Beginners receive foundational instruction on gear selection and basic camera settings, while advanced participants delve into creative composition and sophisticated post-processing methods. Our goal is to ensure everyone progresses at their own pace in a supportive, fun environment.
How physically demanding are the workshops?
Each workshop has a physical difficulty rating to help you prepare:
Easy
Short walks ranging from 1/2 - 1 mile round trip, on flat, stable terrain with minimal elevation changes. Trails are maintained, with little loose gravel or obstacles. Suitable for all fitness and experience levels.

What is your cancellation policy?
Due to the nature of outdoor photography workshops, we cannot offer refunds for weather-related events. We ask all participants attending our workshops to 'come a day early, stay a day late.' If rain is forecasted during our scheduled outings, we may offer additional shooting time. We do not offer refunds for government shutdowns and other uncontrollable factors. However, we do our best to accommodate your needs with flexible itineraries where possible.
